"An Evening With Our Judges"
Returning for an encore engagement - Judge Harold W. Hopp!
Harold W. Hopp practiced for 19 years, primarily with Quinn Emanuel, one of the nation’s largest firms dedicated to civil litigation, before becoming a Riverside County Superior Court Judge in 2005. He served as the Court’s presiding judge in 2015-2016 and has been appointed by California’s Chief Justice to two terms on the state’s Judicial Council. He grew up in Yucaipa.
Joining us for the first time - Judge Kenneth Fernandez!
I received by Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Berkeley in 1988. I then took a year off from school and worked for Apple Computers in Cupertino. After a year at Apple, I enrolled at the University of California, Davis Law School and received by Juris Doctor in 1992. In January 1993 I joined the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office as a Deputy District Attorney and litigated criminal cases until I was hired by the Riverside Superior Court as a Commissioner in January 2004. I was elevated by Governor Brown to Superior Court Judge in 2018. Over the last 18 years on the bench, I have had assignments in Criminal, Family Law, Juvenile Dependency, and Probate. My time in Probate began in January 2019 when Judge Tom Cahraman recruited me to come to Probate to fill a vacancy in a Probate department in the Historic Courthouse in Riverside. For the last three years, I have heard a full-time Probate calendar of Estates, Trusts, Conservatorships, Guardianships, and Elder Abuse Restraining Orders. With the retirement of Judge Cahraman last year, as of December 1st, I became the Supervising Judge of Probate. I also serve on our court’s Executive Committee, our ADR Committee, and our Subordinate Judicial Officer subcommittee.
This is always an interesting and informative Presentation!
